senior pastor zack carden
Zack grew up in Chattanooga attending McCallie School for Boys and graduating from Chattanooga Central High School. Following graduation, he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga majoring in Philosophy & Religious Studies. He went on to receive his Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. From there he has held pastoral roles in Presbyterian (PCA) churches in Woodstock, Chattanooga, and Kennesaw, and most recently has worked for the last twelve years at the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta.
He married his wife, Tennyson, in July of 1997 who also earned a Master Degree in General Theological Studies alongside him at Covenant. Tennyson runs a ballet ministry in East Cobb and Buckhead. They have 4 children – two sons and daughters (Seth 23, Talbott 21, Cole 19, and Halle 16). After graduation from Davidson College, Seth, their oldest son, is getting his start in the financial planning industry. Talbott, their oldest daughter, is a senior at the University of South Carolina majoring in Dance/Education/Business. Cole, their youngest son, is enrolled at the Coast Guard Academy. And Halle, their youngest daughter is a junior at North Cobb Christian School.
In high school, he came to know the Lord and would be active in church and ministry throughout his later high school and college years. It was during college that Zack sensed that the Lord was calling him to ministry. The calling came out of the gratitude for how Christ had transformed his life and he wanted to see others experience that grace and transformation. His gifts for ministry being affirmed by others in leadership, he made plans to attend seminary. In seminary, he had roles as a college intern and a youth director.
Post seminary, his roles have included, children’s ministry, youth ministry, family ministry, and most recently executive pastor. In his role at Apostles, he also teaches a weekly Sunday School Class of senior adults. In his spare time, he works with colleagues to develop audio and animated content for children that teaches them more about who God is and what He came to do through Jesus. He and his family have lived in Kennesaw since 2008. He also sits on the board of North Cobb Christian School the school from which three out of the four of his children have graduated.
Zack and Tennyson are looking forward to building relationships at Marietta Community Church, growing deeper in faith with one another, and reaching the community with the love of Jesus expressed through the gospel.
